Chacho & Brance perform both original and cover songs from blues to folk to country to Americana. The singer/songwriter duo transports you to the era of blues music with acoustic guitar and harmonica sounds. About Us Blues for the Soul Chacho & Brance perform both original and cover songs from blues to folk to country to Americana. The singer/songwriter duo transports you to the classic era of blues and boogie with authentic expressions driven by sounds of acoustic guitars and harmonica. Because of their eclectic musical backgrounds, Chacho & Brance have created an original, organic sound rooted in the traditional but reaching into the unchartered. The duo never limits their ears when it comes to music … if it’s sincere, then it merits listening to on the turntable or at the juke joint. They pull from every tassel of musical influence, injecting their own inimitable essence into each creation. Our Story Chacho & Brance formed in 1995, when the two musicians met at St. Mary's University. Sharing their mutual love of blues and rock n’ roll, they would meet to play and write songs on the steps of the University’s library. Since then, the singer/songwriter duo have performed throughout South Texas and Mexico. Former SESAC artists, Chacho & Brance were featured on the CW Network's Troubadour TX television series; served as 2014 TEDxSA speakers; and have recorded EPs with Grammy-winning producer Jimbo Mathus of Squirrel Nut Zippers fame at Delta Recording Studios in Como, Mississippi. They have released two EPs, The Como Sessions (2011) and Borderland Blues (2014), as well as an eponymous LP with their band Fancy Sick in the late 1990s. Chacho & Brance continue to compose songs and perform regionally. Lorenzo (Chacho) Saldaña hails from the Texas border town of Eagle Pass and holds a myriad of musical influences to include Delta Blues, Ranchera, Folk, Metal, Jazz, and everything viable. He grew up in a large family and during those formative years he was exposed to the ballads of Pedro Infante juxtaposed with the pop-fueled sounds of the Beatles. Yet, overall, his uncle had the most profound effect on him, playing guitar and singing traditional Mexican songs—leading Chacho on a path to a lifelong devotion to artistic expression through verse and music.
